 Alizée Barely has her album landed in stores, and Alizée is already covered in awards. The first single, "J'en ai marre", has collected a disque d'or and demonstrates that the young artist isn't lacking in resources. Next crucial step to cross: the stage... "Eternal love, I don't believe in it anymore..." How are you approaching your first concert tour? A: Singing in front of an audience of fans is the most beautiful thing that can happen to an artist. I've dreamed about it for a long time; nevertheless, on Mylène Farmer's advice, I didn't want to rush anything. I had to get used to the audience first and to tame it as well. But I think today it's a done deal. That's why, starting August 26th, I'll kick off my tour on the mythical stage of the Olympia in Paris. Just simply thinking about it gives me a million butterflies... What's the worst restriction in your profession? A: Sometimes "I'm fed up" with never being able to organize my life like I would want to. I have to constantly juggle between postponed trips and improvised interviews. In fact, things are always done at the last minute, and I expect Olivier, my manager, to call me on my cell phone to annouce that there has been a "change of plans." Even when it's about vacation, I only know in general my availability a week in advance! Do you sometimes regret not living like girls your age? A: I'm aware that I'm leading an extraordinary existence. At just 18 years old, the age where my friends are getting ready to take their bac exam, I'm already practicing a profession that I love and that also allows me to travel across the world! But sometimes I get nostalgic for the high school atmosphere where we talk among friends about the latest exam, or where you agree to meet up between "noon and two"... I was very content to stop school at 16 years old (in 11th grade) because I never imagined a long academic career. However, I'd like to slip anonymously into the skin of a high school girl, just for a few hours, to taste the atmosphere... Are you systematically accompanied by someone when you go out in the street? A: When I go out in Ajaccio (in Corsica), my native city, people are used to seeing me and leave me alone. Also, I can stroll about peacefully without a chaperone. On the other hand, this isn't the case in Paris where I always go outside accompanied by someone, sometimes even camouflaged under a hat. In the streets of the capital, some people set out to bother me. One day shopping with my mom, Michèle, two young boys wanted to take my picture. Since we had our arms full of packages, I responded to them by saying that it wasn't very practical for "striking a pose." As a result, they became annoyed, insulted us, and even followed us for awhile! What temptations are you unable to resist? A: Like lots of girls of my generation, I'm ready to go crazy for clothes. If I like something, I buy it as soon as possible, to the point where my closets are spilling over with clothes that I've never worn (laughs)! I like having on hand outfits of radically different styles. And depending on my mood, I'll opt for a rather sporty look or maybe sexy. Furthermore, I fall quite easily for all kinds of candy. I still try to refrain from my greed in order to avoid unnecessary kilos. Because with my small size (1,61 m), any change in weight betrays me immediately (laughs)! What place does love have in your life? A: For a long time, I believed in fairy tales that tell all the tales about prince charmings and torrid passions. Now, though, eternal love, I don't believe in it anymore... Maybe it's just because I haven't met it yet? It's also true that I don't fall in love easily. Up to now, in fact, very few boys have really made me dream. Actually, as I approach adulthood, I'm beginning to think that love isn't something as simple as that. Before meeting a man with whom to share your life, you first have to be wrong a certain number of times. [Did you know?] Alizée, nicknamed Lili by her close friends, has a terrible habit: she bites her nails when she's stressed! The young star recently declared dreaming of singing one day in a duet with Madonna... The high-heeled shoe which is featured on the cover of your new album, Mes courants électriques], is a resin sculpture 4 meters high, designed by Mylène Farmer in person.
